Partnerships. Innovation. Results

Before starting this project that served to evolve and redefine our company values, a number of reoccurring questions kept coming up at all different levels at JBAndrews:

  • whether it was the marketing team asking, “what does ‘putting people first’ communicate to our clients in terms of our focus on performance and results in executive search?”
  • or the internal recruitment team wondering “are the core values of JBA clear enough to attract the talent we actually want?”
  • or even from our newer employees questioning, “what really are our core values and how do they guide my day to day work?”
  • and lastly “how are we as a business innovating in order to achieve our vision of ‘providing best-in-class, results-driven talent solutions to industry leaders’?”

With these themes repeating in one form or another, we decided to take a deep dive into our business – looking at everything from ‘non-negotiables’, to ‘core values’ to our ‘mission statement’, ‘vision’ and of course our ‘mantra’. We knew from the outset that to get the most authentic insight we needed to give a voice to the people that we ‘go to work to win with every day’ – that means not only our employees but our clients and candidates too.

We took extensive feedback through various surveys internally, across our different offices, and externally across key clients and candidates in all the industries we operate in across the world.

When looking at a client-facing USP… overtime it become challenging to really effectively translate ‘Putting People First’ into something that a current or future client could see as a tangible benefit. At the heart of our success lies a strong foundation of values. We have always been committed to delivering high performance in everything we do… inspiring innovation through our creative and agile approach to executive search, and building purposeful partnerships with our clients and candidates, all while putting people first in our daily interactions. We clearly needed to define and develop our client facing USPs to make this foundation clearer – evolution was needed.

From an internal talent perspective – we’d consistently have people apply to work for JBA because we ‘put people first’. Back in 2018/19, when these values first moulded our company, that was exactly what we were looking for. We had managed to achieve our initial goal of creating a clear USP when attracting graduates in the local Leeds area. Things started to change as we grew and gained more recognition, to the point where we would have people applying to work for us only because we ‘put people first’ and not because they’re interested in working in a results-based sales environment where we also ‘put people first’. Hopefully you can see the disconnect and ultimately the need for evolution.

When looking at innovation the answer was more obvious but equally important. Working in executive search, technology and AI are constantly evolving around us, we recognise the importance of continuing to adapt and implement solutions that will ultimately allow us to better serve our customers. Our team is comprised of niche industry specialists who have an in-depth understanding of the unique requirements and challenges each sector we work in presents. Adding AI and technology, allows us to play to our strengths – the human element of executive search, allowing us to provide tailored recruitment solutions that cater to all our client’s individual needs.

Finally, internal direction. We want everyone across JBA to have a clear direction as to what they should be doing day-to-day as well as a clear mindset to take with every task. Our internal surveys and subsequent ‘Open Forums’ really helped iron out and solid a number of ‘non-negotiable’… most these either already formally existed or were unspoken expectations but the JBA evolution provided a great opportunity to solidify those principles into everyone’s mind.

For those of you that have read this far – thank you! This feels like a massive moment for all of us at JBAndrews and so I wanted to properly talk through our decision making process. Maybe I could have been more concise!

Our new mantra, “𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀. 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀. “, signifies our continued evolution as an executive search business. It encapsulates the dynamic nature of executive recruitment, where the collaboration between our employees and clients, coupled with a relentless pursuit of innovation, enables us to deliver exceptional results.

Most importantly it gives our team a clear focus on how they should be operating day to day, particularly when working with our partners.

We are excited to continue this journey together with our partners and team, embracing new possibilities, and creating a lasting legacy.
