Senior Key Account & Business Development Manager

The ideal candidate will direct the business development activities of the organizations small molecules drug product business unit, primarily involved in the contract manufacturing of sterile and oral solid dosage formulations. These projects will involve niche molecules and chemistry that are produced exclusively for emerging, mid-sized and large pharmaceutical companies. The role will focus on promoting CDMO capabilities for mid-to-late stage clinical development and commercial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue and acquire business with new clients in the European and Rest-of-the-World (RoW) markets, in the areas of Oral Solid Dosage and Sterile applications.
  • Achieve and surpass assigned revenue generation targets.
  • Nurture long term relationships with pre-existing customers within assigned territories.
  • Promote the companies global CDMO capabilities, with a focus on mid-to-late stage clinical development and commercial platforms.
  • Formulate and implement new business development strategies/methodologies through the use of market research and insights.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams covering various departments.
  • Travel to the companies corporate headquarters or to client manufacturing sites up to 30% of the time.
  • Stay in regular contact with clients to update them on project status and projections – ensure customers are kept fully informed via written & verbal communication.
  • Ensure compliance with the budgeted sales costs in your area.
  • Provide feedback to company leadership on sales/business development related topics.
  • Plan and coordinate the penetration of new markets.

Qualifications

  • At least a BSc degree in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy or other relevant discipline.
  • A PhD in one of the above fields would be a plus.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the contract development & manufacturing industry, preferably in the solid and sterile fields.
  • A strong understanding of GMP conditions and requirements.
  • A minimum of 4+ years in business development & key account management in a CDMO environment.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
