Account Manager – Biopharma

The Company:

JBAndrews are currently partnered with a distributor of chemicals, ingredients and raw materials, serving the domestic pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and wider life science industries in the United States. With an ambitious growth plan and a growing customer base, the company are searching for a talented Account Manager for the Midwest & Southwest regions to help push the companies expansion.

The Role:

  • Manage the sales process selling raw materials, cell culture media, process chemicals and/or excipients into the biopharmaceutical market.
  • Work in the field (travel will be an essential function of the role) managing sales opportunities within a defined territory, managing the sales process with direct end user customers and through distributors where applicable.
  • Effectively develop and manage an active pipeline of business opportunities, from start to finish.
  • Develop new business in territory for new and existing customers.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to customers and distributor partners in support of the companies growth.
  • Develop effective relationships with multiple internal and external customers.
  • Achieve year over year annual sales growth and gross margin targets.
  • Experienced in selling into the senior executive level decision makers within the industry.
  • Ability to increase depth and breadth of relationships within focused accounts.
  • Operate within expense budget guidelines and policies.
  • Microsoft Office package/excellent PC skills.
  • Independent problem-solving/analytical skills.
  • Record of sales achievements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in regulated markets that have cGMP, ISO, and change control processes/oversight.
  • Ability to apply account development strategies in a cross-functional environment, from R&D to Process Development to Production.

The Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a technical discipline such as chemistry or biology.
  • 5 or more years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical or life science industries.
  • Previous sales experience working with either manufacturers or distributors selling chemicals, media, life science tools, excipients to life science focused markets.
  • Ideally have a network of industry contacts to support growth goals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and understand profitability.
  • Understanding of gross profit/gross margin calculations.
